My Family Choices is an independent, early-stage family publication. Our aim is to publish useful resources that help adults plan everyday family life. These standards guide what we publish and how we maintain it.
Useful before plentiful
Each resource should solve a specific problem, support a decision or offer something readers can use: an activity, comparison, checklist or practical guide. We do not publish large volumes of repetitive articles simply to attract search traffic.
Authorship and accountability
Articles identify their author or the My Family Choices editorial byline. A publication byline does not imply a large team, professional qualification or expert review. Where an individual specialist reviews a piece, we will name that person and explain the scope of the review. We do not invent credentials, quotations or lived experiences.
Sources and factual claims
We prefer primary sources such as official guidance, original research and direct product documentation. We link to sources for substantive factual claims and distinguish evidence from opinion or suggested activities. Dates, prices and availability can change; buying guides should state when research was checked.
Children, development and health
Our initial coverage focuses on practical family life and low-risk activities. Age ranges are starting points, not measures of a child’s ability. We avoid diagnosing children or offering individualized treatment advice. Health or developmental claims need appropriate authoritative sources and qualified review when the subject calls for it. A general article cannot replace advice from a professional who knows your circumstances.
Product research and commercial independence
We distinguish research-based comparisons from hands-on testing. We only describe a product as tested when it has actually been tested, and explain the relevant method and limits. Sponsored material, free products and affiliate relationships must be clearly disclosed near the relevant content. Payment must not be presented as an independent editorial endorsement.
Use of AI and images
AI tools may help with planning, drafts, editing and illustrative artwork. AI output is not treated as a factual source or evidence of real-world testing. Content requires review before publication. Generated images are illustrations, not documentary photographs of our staff, readers or tests. We label generated editorial imagery and use original, licensed or otherwise permitted materials.
Updates and corrections
We review important content when guidance, product details or circumstances change. Material corrections should be explained on the affected page; a refreshed date should reflect a meaningful update.
Our current stage
We are building a small collection of resources. We do not claim a medical review board, a product testing laboratory or expertise that has not been established. As our coverage develops, these standards will be updated to reflect our actual work.
